A bicyclist died in a collision with a vehicle Tuesday morning in East San Jose, police said.
The fatal crash was reported at 9:37 a.m. on North Capitol Avenue near Gay Avenue, according to the San Jose Police Department.
The cyclist, described only as a man, died at the scene, police said.
The suspect fled but officers located the vehicle disabled near the scene of the collision, authorities said. The suspect was taken into custody.
Police also determined that the suspect’s vehicle had been reported stolen.
Additional details were not immediately released Tuesday.
Northbound traffic on North Capitol Avenue between Madden Avenue and McKee Road was closed for traffic investigators, and the closure was expected to to last several hours.
The death marks the city’s 19th roadway death of the year and the third involving a bicyclist who died, according to data compiled by this news organization.
