SWIMMER OF THE YEAR
Lucas Jue, Long Beach Poly, Senior
Long Beach Poly senior Lucas Jue has been selected as the Press-Telegram boys swimmer of the year after winning the state championship in the 500-yard freestyle in 4 minutes, 22.04 seconds at the CIF State swimming and diving championships. He also finished ninth in the 100-yard breaststroke in 53.06. Jue was named swimmer of the year as a junior and as a sophomore. The Louisville signee finished second in the 500-yard freestyle (4:22.87) and third in the 100-yard backstroke (49.59) at the CIF-Southern Section Division 1 finals. He also won Moore League individual titles in the 200-yard individual medley (1:48.50 meet record) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:21.83 meet and league record).
