Detective Shaun McGovern faced more questions on the stand again on Wednesday in the trial of the April 2022 shooting along K Street in Downtown Sacramento.Much of the questioning focused on re-direct of the detective regarding his interview with 12-year-old RD, who was interviewed days after the shooting. McGovern confirmed that the boy lived outside of Sacramento and they played nearly 17 minutes of footage uninterrupted. McGovern pointed out that they were worried the family was going to move so they interviewed the boy as quickly as they could. Payton and Dandrae Martin both face multiple murder charges along with charges of being convicted felons in possession of weapons, and possession of a fully automatic weapon in one case. It is a felony for a prohibited person to have a firearm or ammunition.Much has been made of whether or not shell casings were moved, picked up, or kicked around after the shooting, something on re-direct they clarified about how difficult it would be to move an entire grouping of casings.Six people died, and 12 more were injured in the shooting along the nightlife corridor.
