A brush fire sparked on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton Wednesday and grew to about 800 acres, Oceanside police said.
The fire was reported around 10:30 a.m. on the military installation neighboring the city of Oceanside. Camp Pendleton officials said the fire was located in the November Training Area near Wire Mountain Housing.
By 12:30 p.m., the fire was estimated to have burned 150 acres, according to Cal Fire.
Less than an hour later, at around 1:20 p.m. the fire is estimated to be 800 acres, Oceanside Police said.
Evacuation warnings were issued for the nearby Oceanside Municipal Golf Course and some surrounding neighborhoods. An evacuation point was established at El Camino High School at 400 Rancho Del Oro. An evacuation warning means people should be prepared to leave on a moment’s notice if an order is issued.
The San Diego Humane Society’s Oceanside Campus is within the evacuation warning zone and has started moving some animals from the campus.
The campus has canceled all vet, microchip, and vaccine appointments. They ask the public to avoid the campus at this time.

The facility had to evacuate on Monday when another fire started in the area and burned four acres.
No evacuation notices were issued for housing on the base, according to Camp Pendleton.
A plume of smoke could be seen from miles away on SkyRanger 7 cameras. A smoke advisory was issued for Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, Bonsall, and Fallbrook by the San Diego County Air Pollution Control District.
