The champs are home! The Dodgers are back in Los Angeles after a repeat World Series win.

Their plane was welcomed with a water cannon salute on the tarmac.

AIR7 was live above LAX as the players touched down and started deplaning on Sunday evening, with the Commissioner’s Trophy in tow.

Video shows World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto carrying the trophy over his head as he stepped off the plane. The red carpet was laid out for the champions to walk across.

The plane landed around 5:30 p.m., and most of the players emerged around 5:45 p.m.

After the Dodgers landed, eager fans waited to see them arrive at Dodger Stadium. A large group of fans brought signs, ready to congratulate the team,

Before getting off the plane, the Dodgers had some fun on the ride home. Pitcher Blake Snell posted a photo on his Instagram page of him hugging the Commissioner’s Trophy on the ride home, and then also shared a posed photo with shortstop Miguel Rojas, decked out in World Series championship gear.

Outside of Dodger Stadium, Eyewitness News talked with fans who were buying gear at the stadium’s store. Eyewitness News spoke to one fan from Tokyo who was especially happy watching pitcher Yamamoto, also from Japan, become the MVP of the World Series.

“Last ten years, I was looking at Yamamoto. He has all the story. He played in the Olympics… he pitched here. So he’s pretty cool. He’s not very big famous in Japan, but he’s a big star now. It’s a special moment,” said Toshi Kato.

It was a grueling schedule for the team, with the series against the Toronto Blue Jays going all seven games. L.A. gutted out a huge win on the road to capture their ninth World Series title.

Now, they are the first team to repeat in 25 years.

Dodger fans are now getting ready to celebrate with the team at the World Series Championship Parade in downtown L.A. on Monday. The celebration begins at 11 a.m.
