A vegetation fire near Elder Creek and Bradshaw Roads has burned approximately two acres and destroyed four outbuildings, according to Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District.
According to Sacramento Metro Fire, the blaze was reported around 1 p.m.
“Our crews were here very quickly. We identified the fact that being this is a Red Flag day, we had strong winds. The humidity was already low. Temperatures were rising. We got additional resources here very quickly. We were able to keep this fire down to two acres and only have four outbuildings. There was quite a few more that could have been involved, but our crews being as aggressive as they are, they were able to knock this fire down quickly,” said Captain Mark Nunez.
Nunez said the outbuildings consisted of three small sheds and a larger barn-style shed. A couple of chicken coops were also involved, but crews were able to protect the chickens.
It’s not clear what the cause of the fire is, but Nunez said there is a possibility of workers on scene working on a vehicle. Crews are investigating that possibility.
“Right now, we’re going to let our arson investigation team go through the process, and we’re just mopping up right now,” said Nunez.
