Friday, June 12

Congratulations on making it to Friday! Before the summer fog rolls in, soak up some June sunshine and immerse yourself in what makes San Francisco great — like a bustling night market and film screening in one of our gorgeous parks.
5 p.m. Sunset night market (opens in new tab) on Irving Street
After more than a year of political chaos in the neighborhood (see: Joel Engardio, Beya Alcaraz), the Sunset night market is back. Come with an appetite! The five-block market, with a Dragon Boat Festival theme, features dozens of food vendors and pop-ups to fuel your night. Once you’ve perused the booths, peel off to Lomo Libre (opens in new tab) on Irving for happy hour specials — $9 cocktails and $7 glasses of wine — until 6 p.m.
7 p.m. Sundown Cinema at Dolores Park
Corral your friends and hop on the N train. Get off at Duboce and Church, then enjoy a 13-minute stroll to Dolores Park for the season kickoff of The Standard’s free movie series, featuring “The Princess Bride.” The screening starts at 8:30, but you’ll want to come early to snag a spot in the grass for prime viewing.
10:15 p.m. Drinks or dessert in the Mission
It’s been a long week, and you deserve a treat! Steps away from Dolores Park is Garden Creamery, which serves scoops until 11 p.m. — a rarity in this city. Or take the boozy route at the newly reopened Beauty Bar and a favorite among restaurant pros, ABV.

Catch the 38 or 1 bus to the Fillmore, where Juneteenth celebrations start early. The eight-block street fair features performances all day long, a classic car parade, and a community zone with activities for the whole family.
6:15 p.m. Drinks and bites at The Anchovy Bar
Now that it’s officially anchovy season, you have a proper excuse to visit this charming spot in the Fillmore — perfect for groups that love to share. The Anchovy Bar takes its wine list as seriously as its small-fish offerings, with bottles imported from the French and Italian rivieras on tap this month.

If you didn’t win tickets to the kickoff of Stern Grove Festival, spend a calm Sunday doing some retail therapy, dog watching, trying a new restaurant, and grooving along to local bands.
10 a.m. West Coast Craft (opens in new tab) at Fort Mason or The French Market Marin (opens in new tab) at Marin Civic Center
We know you have some dads and recent grads in your life. Head up to Fort Mason for one-of-a-kind artisanal gifts you can’t find anywhere else. For an antique selection, cross the bridge for the oh-so-charming The French Market Marin.
1 p.m. Three-legged dog picnic at Little Marina Green Picnic Area
Grab a bite at the Fort Mason Center farmers market before strolling to the Marina Green for an adorable celebration specifically for tri-pawed and differently abled pups. At this San Francisco tradition, in its 17th year, all pups are welcome to spectate the dog fashion shows, costume contests, and blessings by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.
5 p.m. Dinner in the Richmond
Close out your only-in-SF weekend in the Richmond, a hotbed for culinary arrivals. Since you have a show to catch in the neighborhood, grab a cozy but quick early dinner like pizza and shareable apps. Adventurous eaters and pineapple lovers will love Rose Pizzeria’s one-of-a-kind pies, which earned The New York Times’s stamp of approval, while the gluten-averse can order everything on the menu at Clementina, the city’s only fully GF Italian restaurant.

As part of creative agency Total Accord’s celebration of local music, three indie bands are on the roster for this show hosted in conjunction with Stern Grove Festival. Kick back and let sets from Peña, the Breathing Room, and Miss Hits set the tone for another week in the best city around.
