Brush caught fire under the X2 roller coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain in California on Thursday
Firefighters quickly contained the blaze with no injuries reported and the park remaining open as scheduled
The cause of the fire is under investigation
A fire ignited underneath a rollercoaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain in California.
Los Angeles County fire crews responded to the Valencia, Calif. theme park at around 12:21 p.m. on Thursday, June 11. Footage of the blaze from KNN shows a palm tree engulfed in flames underneath the X2 roller coaster on the west side of the park.
The fire spread to other trees and nearby brush, burning about half an acre and blanketing the area in smoke, according to KNN. There were no evacuations issued at the park or injuries sustained by any guests or firefighting personnel.
“Thanks to the firefighters’ quick response and hard work … the incident was declared closed at 1:36 p.m.,” Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Kaitlyn Aldana told The California Post.
Authorities remained at the scene to monitor for additional hotspots. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
“There were no injuries or structural damages,” Six Flags spokesperson Sara Gorgon told the California Post. “The park remains open and is operating as scheduled.”

Fires in the area threatening Six Flags Magic Mountain are not uncommon. In August 2025, a fast-moving wildfire broke out near the park.
According to CalFire, on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025, a brush fire northwest of Los Angeles erupted, prompting evacuation orders for thousands of people and spreading 5,000 acres by the end of the day. The fire, just east of Lake Piru, burned less than 5 miles from Magic Mountain.
Operations at Six Flags were not interrupted.

Last week, Six Flags Magic Mountain announced that its recently reimagined Looney Tunes Land had officially opened. The land is divided into four distinct areas including Bugs Bunny Play Park. This central area houses attractions like Merrie Melodies Merrie-Go-Round, Sylvester’s Pounce & Bounce, Looney Ballooneys and Funny Flyers.
The land replaced the former Bugs Bunny World, which officially closed earlier this year. The project was first announced in December 2025, with construction starting in January 2026.

Initially planned to be completed in phases, a park official confirmed to PEOPLE in May that they closed the entire Bugs Bunny World earlier than anticipated in order to expedite the construction process ahead of the busy summer season.
“Looney Tunes Land blends Warner Bros.’ timeless cartoon storytelling with the energy, humor and adventure that generations have loved for decades in a vibrant new experience,” Brian Oerding, park president of Six Flags Magic Mountain, said in a press release.
