The City of Fresno has been granted immediate possession of Granite Park in central Fresno following a hearing on Friday, clearing the way for the city to take over operations of the park.

The city terminated its lease with the Central Valley Community Sports Foundation in 2025 and filed eviction proceedings to remove the foundation as the operator.

Two weeks ago, a judge found the Central Valley Community Sports Foundation in breach of its lease.

At a hearing, the foundation asked to remain in the park while it appealed the ruling, but the judge declined the request.

Counsel for the city and the Central Valley Community Sports Foundation are scheduled to meet to discuss plans for transitioning operations to the city.

The park will continue to operate, and the city said it will honor existing reservations, league schedules, and scheduled events.

The city said day-to-day availability will not change for families and teams that depend on the park.

“The City will immediately begin addressing safety issues that have been deferred by CVCSF. We look forward to ensuring that there is a seamless transition for the community we serve,” City Manager Georgeanne White said.
