One person was killed and several others were injured after a fiery rollover crash on Interstate 280 near Mariposa Street in San Francisco, fire officials said Friday.
Responders found people inside a “fully engulfed” burning car just after 12:20 a.m., a spokesperson for the San Francisco Fire Department said in an email. Paramedics transported four people to nearby hospitals and pronounced one dead at the scene, officials said.

Investigators with the California Highway Patrol and the San Francisco Police Department were investigating the cause of the crash. The identities of the people involved were not immediately released.
The crash closed southbound lanes of I-280 and the Sixth Street on-ramp for several hours, but they were reopened later in the morning.
