Re “Suit targets UFC fights at White House” (June 8): The UFC fights that Donald Trump is planning to stage on the White House lawn will be the most vulgar, tawdry event this country has seen. And to include the Lincoln Memorial and the Oval Office among the aspects of the occasion adds insult to injury. I have been in the Oval Office, and for an ordinary person like me, it’s holy ground.
What will Trump want to host next? Cockfights? Pitbull fights? Bear baiting? A bullfight? Whichever he might choose, he probably will want to profit from it in the same way he will from his $15,000 to $50,000 investment in TKO Holding Group, the parent company of the UFC.
It’s a hopeful sign that a lawsuit has been filed in the hope of stopping this demeaning event. I wish it much success.
