BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The heat is here, and it looks like it’ll stay for a while!
A dominant ridge of high pressure has been helping push temperatures into high territory and this will continue over the weekend.
Please practice heat safety and always remember to “LOOK before you lock”. With today’s busy schedules and multiple things on people’s minds it’s not hard to unintentionally forget a child in a backseat of a car, especially if they fell asleep. This is extremely dangerous and can quickly become life-threatening.
A child’s body temperature increases 3 to 5 times faster than that of an adult. Even if it’s just 70 degrees outside, after 20 minutes the car’s interior rises to 99! When it’s 100 outdoors, your vehicle gets up to 119 in just 10 minutes. 20 minutes later it’s 134 inside your car!
