Firefighters are battling a brush fire burning near Stevenson Ranch, Cal Fire said on Monday.
The blaze was reported at about 4:20 p.m. near the intersection of Magnolia Lane and Autumn Place. As of 5:30 p.m., the fire had grown to 31 acres.
Thick plumes of smoke were seen towering over a neighborhood as flames burned through a hillside near some homes. The Los Angeles County Fire Department issued a shelter-in-place order and to keep windows closed. Residents are advised to be ready to leave in case evacuations are ordered.
