Re “U.S. and Iran have agreed to wording of peace deal” (June 13): The line saying “the deal would include Iran renewing its commitment to not develop or acquire a nuclear weapon” just fails any logic or history test.

Wasn’t the reason we joined the Israelis in attacking and “obliterating” the Iranian nuclear facilities in June of last year precisely because they failed to adhere to this very commitment? And wasn’t that the same reason we started again in February because of the “imminent threat” posed by the ongoing Iranian refusal to abide by this commitment?

If the rest of this article is correct, the lifting of sanctions, release of frozen assets, charging for ship passage in the Strait of Hormuz, and the resumption of oil exportation will fund an even more radical regime’s ongoing quest of nuclear weapons and support of terrorism.

It seems the Iranians have mastered “the art of the deal.”
