Two San Francisco residents are celebrating major wins at the James Beard Awards.
Chef Michael Tusk, the owner of Quince, won the coveted Outstanding Chef Award during the ceremony in Chicago on Monday night.
According to organizers, Tusk is the first Bay Area chef to receive an individual James Beard Award since 2022.
The honor adds to Tusk’s previous James Beard recognition. In 2011, he won the Best Chef Pacific Award.
Also taking home a James Beard Award was Kevin Diedrich, head bartender and co-owner of Pacific Cocktail Haven.
Diedrich won the award for Outstanding Professional in Cocktail Service.
