FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — Parents, educators, and community members from multiple Fresno Unified school sites held a press conference to protest the Fresno Unified School District’s decision to reassign administrators.

Fresno Unified has announced leadership changes affecting five principals and 26 vice principals.

In response, parents and educators from several impacted campuses are calling on district leaders to reconsider the reassignments and to provide more transparency about how the decisions were made.

Organizers say speakers at the press conference include parents and educators representing school communities from across Fresno Unified.

They addressed how the leadership changes could affect school culture, student support, family engagement, and long-standing relationships between school leaders, educators, students, and families.

Participants also raised concerns about the decision-making process, including what they describe as a limited opportunity for educators, parents, and school communities to provide meaningful input before the changes were announced.

Petitions signed by educators from multiple school sites are also being circulated, requesting that Fresno Unified reconsider several of the reassignments.

Organizers say the petitions showed overwhelming support for keeping existing leadership teams in place at those campuses.

An anonymous letter from a current Fresno Unified principal was also included, expressing concerns about the process and the impact of the changes.

The principal requested anonymity due to concerns about potential retaliation for speaking publicly.

Parents and educators plan to call on Superintendent Misty Her and the Fresno Unified Board of Education to stop the changes, engage more directly with school communities, and ensure educators, families, and students have a meaningful role in decisions affecting their schools.
