Golden Gate Bridge tolls to increase July 1, bus and ferry fares also rise

The cost of getting into San Francisco is set to rise once again for North Bay commuters as Golden Gate Bridge tolls and bus and ferry rates are scheduled to increase July 1.

The rate increases are part of a multiyear toll increase program approved by the Golden Gate Bridge Board of Directors in March 2024, according to a news release from the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District.

The Golden Gate Bridge’s toll rates will increase by 50 cents. FasTrak account rates will increase to $10.25; pay-as-you-go rates will increase to $10.50; toll invoice rates will increase to $11.25; and carpool rates will increase to $8.25. Multi-axle vehicle toll rates will also increase.

Additionally, most Golden Gate Transit bus and Golden Gate Ferry fares are also increasing by up to 25 cents.

For Sonoma County riders paying cash, a bus trip to San Francisco will cost $15. Adult riders using a Clipper card will pay $12, while youth, senior, disabled and Medicare riders will pay $7.50 to get from Sonoma County to San Francisco.

Adult riders using a Clipper card to ride the ferry from Larkspur, Sausalito or Tiburon will pay $9.50, and riders with a Clipper START card will pay $4.75 for a one-way ride across the bay to San Francisco. Adults paper-ticket fares will remain $14, and youth, senior, disabled and Medicare rider fares will remain $7 per ferry ride.
