ANAHEIM, Calif. (June 19, 2026) — A crash involving a semi-truck and a flatbed tow truck caused major traffic delays on the northbound 57 Freeway near Katella Avenue in Anaheim early Friday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision was reported on June 19th at approximately 6:43 a.m. on the northbound State Route 57 just north of Katella Avenue, near the area of Angel Stadium and the Honda Center.
Initial reports indicated that two to three vehicles were involved and were blocking multiple lanes of traffic. CHP dispatch logs show a semi-truck pulling a trailer collided with a flatbed tow truck, leaving the tow truck facing sideways across lanes of the freeway.
Authorities reported that fuel spilled onto the roadway following the crash, and a nearby light pole was knocked down, leaving exposed electrical wires and creating an additional hazard for emergency crews.
One person inside the tow truck was reportedly injured. Firefighters responded to the scene and assisted with the incident, while CHP officers worked to secure the area and investigate the cause of the collision.
Traffic cameras showed four to five lanes blocked as a result of the crash, prompting CHP to issue a one-hour SigAlert shortly before 7:00 a.m. The westbound Katella Avenue on-ramp to northbound SR-57 was also closed to allow crews to safely manage the scene and remove damaged vehicles.
Tow trucks, including a heavy-duty recovery vehicle, were dispatched to clear the wreckage. Utility crews were requested to address the damaged light pole and exposed wiring.
The extent of the injuries was not immediately known, and officials have not released the identities of those involved.
Motorists traveling through Anaheim experienced significant delays during the morning commute as emergency crews worked to reopen lanes.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
