One of Oakland’s largest festivals is bringing several Grammy-recognized musicians to the Town.
LakeFest Oakland will return to Lake Merritt for its seventh year on Saturday, June 27, featuring R&B singer-songwriters Eric Bellinger and VEDO as headliners.
Bellinger won a Grammy for his work on Chris Brown’s 2011 album “F.A.M.E.,” but has also written music for Usher and Justin Bieber. Meanwhile, Vedo, who rose to fame on Season 4 of “The Voice,” earned a Grammy nod for songwriting contributions to Brown’s 2022 single “WE (Warm Embrace).”
This year’s LakeFest spans three stages, with a new “You Got Praise” Gospel Stage, which will showcase a gospel choir sing-off competition, dance groups and comedians.
In tandem with the Gospel Stage is the Praise Marketplace, just one piece of the festival’s vendor landscape that comprises more than 200 food trucks and retailers.
Other LakeFest performers include Paris Nights, Jwalt and Mistah F.A.B., all of whom hail from Oakland. The latter will emcee the festival’s Culture Stage, which spotlights Oakland artists.
