Two- and four-legged La Jolla residents and visitors embarked on a journey through The Village for the annual Mutt Strut on June 20.
The event — part fundraiser, part scavenger hunt — invited dog owners to gather and socialize on the patio of Pacific Sotheby’s on Prospect Street before going on a walk with a map of certain Village businesses, each of which gave walkers a letter of the alphabet they could use to complete a word puzzle. After visiting all the businesses and getting all the letters, participants could turn in their completed puzzle for prizes.
The Mutt Strut, presented by the La Jolla Loves Pets Foundation and the La Jolla Village Merchants Association, doubled as a fundraiser for East County “pet detective” Babs Fry, who helps reunite lost pets with their owners for free. Eighty percent of net proceeds from this year’s Mutt Strut will go directly to Fry’s nonprofit, A Way Home for Dogs. ♦
