Sacramento’s Ryde Free program, which offers free transit for kids to access school and activities, will continue for the 2026-27 school year. For the past seven years, SacRT’s Ryde Free program has helped kids in grades K-12 get to school, after-school programs, work or libraries for free. During the 2025 fiscal year alone, young riders took more than five million trips using the youth pass, made possible through funding partnerships with local jurisdictions and school districts. Cards for the program can be picked up at school district offices, libraries, or SacRT’s customer service center near 13th and R streets.
