LA QUINTA, Calif. – Long Beach State Men’s Golf concluded a triumphant fourth straight title run at the Big West Championship, winning the tournament with a program record score of -48 and placing first through fifth in a dominant performance.

Long Beach State entered the weekend ranked No. 27 in the nation, and controlled the competition throughout on the way to a fourth straight Big West crown, matching a mark only previously set by Fresno State in the early 90s.
The Beach won the tournament by 47 strokes, as only Cal Poly also finished under par at the tournament at -1.
Graduate Steen Zeman became Long Beach State’s 11th Big West Individual Medalist, winning the tournament with a score of -11 despite being the team’s drop score on the final day. After a runner-up performance earlier this year in Colorado, Zeman claimed his first win in his sixth career Top 5 finish.
Jack Cantlay and Jaden Huggins shared second place at -10, with Cantlay recording a birdie-free 68 on the final day and Huggins shooting a two-under par 72.
Alejandro de Castro Piera climbed into fourth place with a final round 66, matched by junior Krishnav Chopraa who also shot 66 to round out the top five in fifth place overall. Long Beach State took positions one through five, with Dane Watanabe placing sixth overall among the 50 total competitors.
Long Beach State’s final score of 816 was the lowest in both Big West Championship and program history. The mark of -48 to par and 816 bested a score to par of -40 set earlier this season at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational.
With a representative in the NCAA postseason in each of the last six years, Long Beach State will find out their postseason destination during Wednesday’s selection show which will be live on the Golf Channel starting at 11 a.m.
