Open house held in east Bakersfield as Boys & Girls Clubs marks 60th anniversary

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County marked a milestone celebration tonight, hosting an open house in east Bakersfield to commemorate its 60th anniversary.

The local chapter held the event at the Armstrong Youth Center, where kids and families were able to explore programs, services and resources available as summer break approaches.

Director Barry Hill also shared changes he has seen at the clubhouse since he first got involved.

There are three Boys & Girls Clubs in Kern County: the Armstrong Youth Center on Niles Street, the Stockdale Clubhouse on Young Street and the Lamont Boys & Girls Club on Segrue Road.
