SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Several Hells Angels members were arrested in San Diego during the biker gang’s annual May “Southrun” event, police said in a news release Monday.
The San Diego Police Department (SDPD) said that more than 200 Hells Angels members were riding into San Diego for the annual event the weekend of May 29-30.
More than 100 local, county and state law enforcement officers monitored the event, coordinating traffic stops and arrests.
Police said that over the past five years, Hells Angels gang members from the southwest region have been involved in incidents of violence in San Diego, including the violent attack on three people in Ocean Beach in 2023.
Over the two days in May, police issued 64 traffic citations, made four misdemeanor arrests, 20 felony arrests, 14 firearm seizures and impounded multiple motorcycles and cars.
One person allegedly fled from police during a traffic stop, driving at over 100 MPH during rush hour traffic in Lakeside and Alpine, SDPD said.
SDPD also said that several gang members had loaded firearms, knives, hammers and other weapons.

Several of those who were arrested had criminal records, including arrests for homicide, robbery, DUI, narcotics sales and auto theft.
