Re “Curtain will close on Nighttime Zoo” (June 19): The San Diego Zoo’s Wildlife Alliance does laudable conservation work all over the world, but here in San Diego, the zoo has made some troubling decisions. With a billion-dollar endowment, the zoo really didn’t need to follow the city’s unpopular lead with paid parking. And now killing off Nighttime Zoo, a “family favorite” since 1994, to be replaced by unspecified “new and exciting experiences”? Maybe. Seems like the zoo could afford to keep this popular and memorable tradition intact for its members and guests.
