ANAHEIM — California Highway Patrol investigators recovered more than $2.2 million worth of stolen merchandise while serving a search warrant at an Anaheim warehouse as part of an ongoing cargo theft investigation, according to a CHP news release.
Investigators with the CHP Border Division’s Cargo Theft Interdiction Program and Organized Retail Crime units executed the search warrant June 18 at approximately 9 a.m.
During the operation, authorities recovered multiple loads of stolen cargo linked to the investigation. Among the items recovered were TaylorMade golf balls, Meta server switches, Tamiya hobby products and other merchandise.
CHP estimated the total value of the recovered property at more than $2.223 million.
Two individuals were detained during the execution of the warrant. However, investigators later determined they were not involved in criminal activity and released them. No arrests have been made.
“This recovery of more than $2 million in stolen merchandise highlights the outstanding work and collaboration of everyone involved,” Border Division Assistant Chief Michael Vargas said in the release. “Organized retail crime is not victimless, and the CHP remains committed to holding offenders accountable and protecting the public through proactive enforcement and strong partnerships.”
According to CHP, cargo theft and organized retail crime affect consumers, retailers and supply chains throughout California. The agency said it continues to work with businesses and community partners to combat the crimes statewide.
