It’s summer, and that means it’s time for the popular Long Beach Municipal Band to start its free concerts in the parks, which will run from June 23 through July 31. The music starts at 6:30 p.m. but get there early if you want a good view.

Bring bring your chairs, picnic and blankets. Dogs on a leash are welcome, if they’re well behaved. This is a summer tradition for many families; in fact, the band’s been performing for 117 years.

Themes: Week 1: “City Lights, Jazz Nights”; Week 2: “America the Beautiful: A Musical Tribute” ; Week 3: “The Music Behind the Magic” Disney tribute; Week 4: “Songs for the One You Love”; Week 5: “John Williams in Concert: A Legacy of Cinema”; Week 6: “Legends of Vinyl: The Bands That Defined An Era”.
