Vice President JD Vance arrived in San Diego aboard Air Force Two Tuesday, accompanied by his wife, Usha, a San Diego native, and their German shepherd Atlas on a flight that began in Switzerland.
Vance had been at a Swiss resort above Lake Geneva, leading the U.S. delegation in negotiations to end the Iran war.
Air Force Two left Emmen Military Air Base in Emmen, Switzerland, northwest of Lucerne, shortly before 8 p.m. Monday, Central European Summer Time, 11 a.m., Pacific Daylight Time, bound for a 90-minute refueling stop at Royal Air Force Mildenhall in England, where it arrived at 8:14 p.m. British Summer Time, 12:14 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time.
The plane landed at Joint Base Andrews in Prince George’s County, Maryland at 12:39 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time Tuesday.
The White House has not announced a schedule for Vance’s stay in San Diego. He is scheduled to speak at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda Thursday, discussing issues shaping the nation’s future, and his recently published memoir, “Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith,” which focuses on his conversion to Catholicism in 2019.
