William Shakespeare wrote, “I do love nothing in the world so well as you — is that not strange?” While that quote might describe an avid reader’s connection to the library, in this case, the quote is related to its source — The Bard’s “Much Ado About Nothing.”
The Long Beach Public Library, in conjunction with the Long Beach Arts Council, will be hosting a free, live showing of the timeless play. The EastLine Theatre, based on Long Island, will put on the performance as part of their free summer Shakespeare Across Long Island tour, which brings live, professional theatre to libraries, parks and museums throughout the area.
The romantic comedy, first performed in the late-1500s, is set in Sicily. It tells the story of two couples caught up in a series of lies and misunderstandings. “We are thrilled to welcome back EastLine Theatre at the Long Beach Public Library, and are looking forward to an afternoon of fun,” said George Trepp of the Long Beach Arts Council.
