San Diego State officially joins the Pac-12 on Wednesday, and San Diego State’s football program is planning an event on the eve of the transition to celebrate with fans and supporters.

The San Diego State Football Community Cornhole Tournament will be held Tuesday evening at Snapdragon Stadium’s Thrive Lot.

SDSU is presenting the event, along with South Bay Baggers and Berdoo Baggers. The competition is open to all skill levels for those who would like to participate. The cost to enter is $25. Information for sign-up and questions is available by emailing berdoobaggerscornhole@yahoo.com or going to Instagram at @berdoo_baggers_cornhole.

Aztecs fans are welcome and encouraged to attend to watch. Warmups start at 5 p.m., and “bags fly” at 6. Parking is free on the Thrive Lot’s grass area.

“We wanted to just have a fun night on the eve of us going to the Pac-12,” SDSU coach Sean Lewis said. “This is a historic moment for the city, for the community, for the university, and so we wanted to bring everyone together for some summertime fun.

“The beanbag aficionado community has really risen to it. Our boys are excited to go out there and partner up with some of the participants, toss some bags and celebrate this historic moment.”

Lewis said he expects about 100 players and staff members to attend the event, which will afford fans a rare up-close opportunity with the Aztecs.

“It’s a chance to see these guys without their helmets on, see us without our headsets on and really get to know these great men and women that make our program go and make this place so special,” Lewis said. “It’s going to be a great event to see all of us for who we are.

“Whether you enjoy bags, you enjoy Aztec football or you enjoy Aztec athletics, whatever the case may be, it’s going to be a great, low-cost, family-fun event.”

SDSU players are in the midst of summer conditioning for the 2026 season. The Aztecs open fall camp Aug. 5 and start the season Sept. 5 against Portland State at Snapdragon Stadium.

The Aztecs are coming off a 9-4 season as they head into the reconstituted Pac-12, which also includes Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Oregon State, Texas State, Utah State and Washington State.

SDSU has nonconference home games against Portland State and James Madison (Sept. 19), and the Aztecs host conference games against Texas State (Oct. 3), Fresno State (Oct. 17), Washington State (Oct. 31) and Utah State (Nov. 14).
