Oakland University has approved a $303.3 million budget for the 2026-27 academic year that includes increased tuition for undergraduate students.
In the budget, the average tuition rate for in-state undergraduate students is $716.25 per credit, an increase of 3.9% while tuition for in-state graduate students is unchanged at $951.50 per credit.
Comparatively, the undergraduate per credit rate at Wayne State is $567.27, $665 at Grand Valley State and $499 at Central Michigan.
Tuition for William Beaumont medical school students is $63,484, an increase of 3.5%.
“Regardless of the uncertainties around state funding, we’ve stayed true to our mission of providing students with a top-notch education at an affordable cost,” said Stephen W. Mackey, senior vice president for Finance and Administration and board treasurer. “We continue to add new programs, upgrade our infrastructure and invest in our faculty and staff to ensure our students are equipped to be productive, responsible citizens in the workforce and in their communities.”
The cost for campus housing is also increasing. A 3% double-style room will cost $11,970.
The new budget also includes $41.7 million in financial aid, resulting in a 41% net tuition discount for full-time resident undergraduate students.
“This budget reflects our commitment to providing students with an affordable, high-quality education,” said Oakland University President Ora Hirsch Pescovitz. “Even in an uncertain funding environment, we are investing responsibly in the people and programs that prepare our graduates to lead lives of purpose and success and contribute to Michigan’s future.”
