SAN JOSE — Firefighters were working Friday morning to corral a grass fire that broke out on Communications Hill, authorities said.
The vegetation blaze was reported at 11:16 a.m. in the area of Kurte Park southeast of Monte Vista Drive, according to the fire dispatch records. It burned at least one acre and was moving uphill amid “light flashy fuels” according to Watch Duty, an online fire-monitoring service.
The San Jose Fire Department sent a two-alarm response, summoning additional personnel and engines in part because of its relative proximity to homes. Communications Hill Boulevard stood in the way of the blaze reaching some of those structures.
Just after noon, firefighters reported that the forward progress of the fire had been stopped.
