A new site dedicated to helping residents affected by the Boyle Heights commercial fire has opened in East Los Angeles, Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda Solis announced.
The East Los Angeles Library is now serving as a community resilience center to connect impacted residents to resources that can help them in the wake of the fire. The site will include a mobile health clinic, distributions of air purifiers and masks on a first-come, first-served basis and connections to resources to support residents.
Several agencies will participate in the center to provide information to help community members in need. Such agencies include LA County departments of mental health, consumer and business affairs, animal care and control and more.
The new center is located at 4837 E. 3rd Street, Los Angeles, CA 90022. It will be open on the following days:
Saturday, June 27 – 1 to 5 p.m.
Sunday, June 28 – 1 to 5 p.m.
Monday, June 29 to Saturday, July 4 – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Cleanup efforts are underway at the Lineage cold food storage building after a fire inside the massive warehouse was knocked down following a weeklong firefight. Part of the cleanup process involves strategizing how to best get rid of the 85 million pounds of food that was spoiling and burning in the building.
City officials expressed concerns that the rotting food would pose a biohazard risk to surrounding neighborhoods.

The company and warehouse owner will be financially responsible for the cleanup under the oversight of the Emergency Management Department, according to Los Angeles Fire Department Chief Jaime Moore. Lineage has said in a statement that it hired Signal Restoration Services for cleanup services.
The cause of the fire remains unclear, though Lineage speculated that subcontractors working on the roof’s solar panels may have inadvertently started the fire. The company said a third-party solar company is in charge of maintaining the roof.
