Domestic violence was involved in 15% of reported homicides in recent years in Oakland County, according to law enforcement agencies that investigated the cases.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention defines domestic violence as “physical violence, sexual violence, stalking and psychological aggression by a current or former intimate partner.”

Of Oakland County’s 77 homicides reported from 2023 through mid-June this year, officials said 12 were domestic violence-related as defined by the CDC, including seven determined to be murder-suicides:

• 2023 — 16 reported homicides, four from domestic violence

• 2024 — 23 reported homicides, two from domestic violence

• 2025 — 30 reported homicides, five from domestic violence

• 2026 — Eight reported homicides as of mid-June, one from domestic violence

According to FBI data, nationwide from 2017 to 2025 more than 3,000 people – family members or intimate partners – died in bursts of domestic-related violence. Family and partner killings now account for 21% of all homicides, according to the latest numbers, up from 15% in 2020.

Here’s a look at the Oakland County the cases:

2023

• Cayla Rose Carr of Auburn Hills, 25, believed to have been killed by her boyfriend, Connor Michael Hicks, 25, of Clarkston in an apparent murder-suicide. Carr was reportedly pregnant at the time of her death.
• Annie Salem Namou of Sterling Heights, 40, was shot to death by Gregory Keyier-Deniro Davis, her ex-boyfriend and father of their child, who witnessed the murder. He’s serving life in prison.
• Jamesha Kelley, 41, was shot to death outside the Marriott Hotel in Southfield. A male companion was also shot but survived. Officials believe the shooter was Kelley’s ex-boyfriend,  Kyle Bozeman III, who was fatally shot by police in Detroit a few hours later during a traffic stop. Bozeman was in a convertible with the top down when officers approached him, and he reportedly reached for a weapon. That’s when officers shot him, officials said..
• Calandra Letisha Green, 50, a Oakland County Health Division officer, was shot to death at her home in Pontiac, in an apparent murder-suicide. Investigators said her husband, Charles Quincy Green, killed her and then fatally shot himself.

2024

• Charnae Jenkins, 33, was killed during what officials said was a domestic dispute that ended in murder-suicide in Pontiac. Jenkins was reportedly shot to death by Alvin Dewayne Hall, Jr., 29, who then killed himself.
• Candace Hawkins, 42, was found dead in a Madison Heights home that had been set on fire. According to police, she was slain by her ex-boyfriend, Christopher Spicer, in a murder-suicide. Officials said both bodies had stab wounds, and the Madison Heights fire marshal said Spicer had started the fire to conceal the homicide.

2025

• A married couple was found dead in their Waterford Township home in what officials said was an apparent murder-suicide. Both the woman, age 97, and man, age 96, suffered fatal gunshot wounds, according to police, and had extensive medical histories. Police wouldn’t release their names or comment on which of them was the shooter.
• Mallory Myers was stabbed to death at a home in Waterford Township. Seth Martin, who police said described himself as her fiance, is facing a first-degree homicide charge for the death. This case is pending in Oakland County Circuit Court.
• Rachel Renee Wooten was fatally shot at a residence in a Highland Township mobile home community. Her fiance, Michael Devon Webb, is charged with first-degree homicide and felony firearm for the death. Webb initially claimed the shooting happened accidentally but evidence showed otherwise, officials said. This case is spending in Oakland County Circuit Court.
• Jackie Jo Torrez was fatally shot in an apparent murder-suicide at the Holiday Inn Express in Auburn Hills. According to police, Marcus Isaiah Taylor shot Torrez in a domestic incident before fatally shooting himself.
• Barbara Aubuchon was fatally shot by her husband, Jeffery Aubuchon, who then killed himself at their home in Farmington, police said. Before he turned the firearm on himself, Jeffery Aubuchon barricaded himself in the house and a SWAT team was deployed. Early the next day, he was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.

2026

• Monique Taylor was fatally stabbed at a home in Pontiac, allegedly by her boyfriend’s son. Deveon Latrell Cole is charged with first-degree premeditated homicide for her death. Deputies called to the home found her lying on a bedroom floor, bleeding from multiple stab wounds. She died at an area hospital a short time later. This case is pending in 50th District Court.
