Family Campout
The fifth annual Family Campout organized by Milpitas Recreation and Community Services is set for July 25-26 at Ed Levin Park, 3100 E. Calaveras Road.
The overnight, rain-or-shine event is recommended for families with children ages 6 and older. Campers can enjoy lawn games, s’mores, meals cooked outdoors and sleeping under the stars. Participants must bring their own tents and sleeping gear.
Tickets are $36 at bit.ly/Milpitas-event. Previous campouts have sold out.
American history trivia
The Friends of the Milpitas Library are celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence with an American history trivia contest on Sunday, July 5, 3-5 p.m. at the Milpitas Library. Individuals and teams can test their knowledge of the people, events and ideas that shaped the nation while competing for prizes. Snacks will be provided.
Roadway resurfacing
Roadway resurfacing work is underway on Great Mall Parkway through July 24. The project will involve night construction to remove approximately 2-3 inches of existing asphalt pavement and replace it with new hot-mix asphalt.
Following pavement replacement, construction will resume during the day to complete striping and utility adjustments. Residents are advised to observe changeable message signs for schedule updates.

Fireworks may be fun for humans, but they can be loud and frightening for animals. To keep pets safe during Fourth of July fireworks displays, Human Society Silicon Valley recommends keeping pets indoors inside during fireworks, as even outdoor cats or dogs can panic and flee from loud firework noises. Turn on the TV or radio to help mask the sound of explosions, or give your dog a long-lasting frozen treat to keep them occupied.
