X Games Day Two in Sacramento Was an Absolute Showcase

Day two of MoonPay X Games Sacramento turned Cal Expo into a record factory, with perfect weather, a packed crowd, and seven disciplines crowning champions across skateboarding, BMX, and Moto X.

The grit award goes to Gui Khury. The seventeen-year-old from Brazil won Skateboard Vert Best Trick on his first attempt, landing a kickflip body varial 900 with a broken hand, grabbing the board with his good one to pull it off. The win was his sixth straight gold in the discipline and pushed him to sixteen career medals, the most ever by a teenager.

He did not hold that last record alone for long. Tokyo’s Arisa Trew added Vert Best Trick gold to her Park win from Friday, claiming her tenth career X Games gold. That tied her with Lindsey Jacobellis for the most by any woman and matched Khury’s teenage medal mark on the same afternoon.

Australia stole the BMX spotlight. Ryan Williams landed a never-before-done 540 frontflip flair to win Park Best Trick and lead an all-Australian one-two finish, his twelfth career gold. He nicknamed the move the Oliver Twist as a tribute to a friend.

Sacramento got its hometown moment in BMX Dirt. Local favorite Brady Baker outdueled Williams to win his third Dirt gold in front of family and friends, a victory he called the most meaningful of his career. He also shared that he and his partner are expecting a baby girl.

The history kept coming. Sixteen-year-old Ginwoo Onodera won Skateboard Street for New York, while legend Nyjah Huston took silver. Gavin Bottger went back-to-back in Skateboard Park, and rookie Egoitz Bijueska became the first Spanish skateboarder ever to medal. Patrick Evans capped Moto X Best Trick gold on the only electric motorcycle in the field.

The party rolled into the night as Mustard and Subtronics took the stage for a massive crowd, both making their X Games debuts.

The weekend wraps Sunday with finals across six events, including Women’s Skateboard Street and Men’s BMX Street. Fans can catch it on ABC, ESPN, and ESPN2, or stream it through the ESPN App. For a city still proving it belongs on the action sports map, Sacramento is making the case loud and clear.
