SAN FRANCISCO’S 56th annual Pride Parade brought thousands of people together from across the Bay Area Sunday to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, with contingents made up of a diverse patchwork of people and organizations showing their support.
One of the world’s largest and most famous pride parades started at 10:30 a.m. near the San Francisco Ferry Building and continued down Market Street where spectators lined up on both sides of the route.

The parade kicked off, or more accurately throttled up, with a bang as the motorcycle club Dykes on Bikes roared down towards the parade’s end point at Civic Center Plaza. Their leather outfits were interwoven with colors of the rainbow and transgender flags.
Performance groups, such as Folclorico Colorbri and La Cumbiamba Colombiana, showcased unique cultural dances that left participants smiling from ear to ear. Families were joined by their children as they held signs showing their support for children no matter how they identify.
Elected officials, ranging from San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie and members of the city’s Board of Supervisors to Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, wove the multicolored flags as the sound of pop music blasted from nearby speakers.
Nonprofit organizations, multicultural performances, and LGBTQ+ advocacy groups were met with deafening applause and cheers as the crowds celebrated their work and legacies.
Contingents representing several countries joined the festivities. The European Union Office in San Francisco, and the consulates of Mexico, Canada, and Australia, each showcased their commitment to the LGBTQ+ community.

The floats of major companies featured employees while their families performed dance routines and passed out merch to a crowd eager to receive their next tote bag.
Two of the groups that received some of the loudest rounds of applause of the day were the Everyone Loves a Corgi and Muttville Senior Dog Rescue marchers. The sight of older and small dogs rocking the colors of the rainbow sent spectators into a boisterous frenzy.
