Attorney expected to be released from Bakersfield parade crash case

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The attorney representing Bakersfield Christmas Parade crash defendant Alan Booth is expected to file a motion this week to be released from the case.

Defense attorney Jeremy Brehmer and prosecutor Brandon Stallings confirmed during a hearing Monday that Brehmer is expected to be replaced as counsel for Booth, who faces multiple felony counts.

Judge Tiffany Organ-Bowles set a hearing for Wednesday to confirm Brehmer’s release and appoint new counsel.

Booth’s blood alcohol-content after the 2023 crash was measured at 0.28%, more than three times the legal limit.

In January, Booth was found guilty of misdemeanor DUI charges for driving drunk in another incident months after the crash. In that case, he drove to Jim Burke Ford to get a tire repaired and was arrested after providing breath samples that returned BAC readings of 0.231 and 0.233%.
