Reports have emerged that Jalen Duren is set to meet with the Sacramento Kings to begin his restricted free agency.
The star big man, still not being able to reach a new possible max contract with the Pistons, is seeking a sign-and-trade deal that would allow him to exit Detroit.
As such, Domantas Sabonis would certainly be a name to monitor should the Pistons pull the green light for a sign-and-trade pact with the Kings.
Although he endured an injury-riddled 2025-26 season, Sabonis still stands as one of the best big men in the NBA. The 30-year-old holds a strong average of 19.0 points, 13.1 rebounds and 6.9 assists throughout five seasons in Sacramento, shooting nearly 60 percent from the field.
Even if Duren leaves, the Pistons can still give franchise superstar Cade Cunningham a great co-star who would allow them to continue competing with Sabonis.
Sabonis is currently under a five-year, $216.6 million contract extension that runs through the 2027-28 season. With Duren seeking his very own max contract, both the Pistons and the Kings can truly land a potential sign-and-trade agreement.
