LONG BEACH – Police are searching for a suspect who wounded another man in a shooting in the Alamitos Heights neighborhood of Long Beach.

Officers from the Long Beach Police Department were called at approximately 9:32 p.m. Sunday to the 1100 block of Raymond Avenue and East 11th Street regarding an assault with a deadly weapon, the police department said.

When they arrived at the scene, officers found the victim, who sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel took him to a hospital for treatment.

Upon further investigation, officers learned the victim was shot in the 2300 block of East Anaheim Street and Stanley Avenue, police said. The suspect ran away from the scene to Raymond Avenue, which is where police found him.

The motive for the shooting as well as the suspect information are under investigation, according to the police department.
