Re “San Diego shrinking late-night hours at 35 beach parking lots” (June 28): This is all fine and good. We have no argument that these changes have been needed for a very long time, but, as usual, the city of San Diego is solving one problem and creating another one.
Has anyone at the city asked where these van lifers and RV dwellers are going to go? Well, I can answer that question. They will now be parking on our city streets in residential neighborhoods and camping. Once again, a problem has been foisted onto the residents. When she was city attorney, Mara Elliott made a deal with the RV advocates prohibiting the police from even approaching someone camping on a city street if no other crime is being committed. Our mayor and City Council allowed this to happen. Thanks for nothing, San Diego.
