Tens of thousands of soccer fans are once again expected to pack San Pedro Square in downtown San Jose Tuesday evening to watch Mexico battle Ecuador in the World Cup.
The two nations are squaring off in the Round of 32, the first of the knockout rounds at this year’s tournament. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Watch party organizers and San Pedro Square businesses said they’re bracing for massive crowds. Thousands upon thousands of passionate El Tri supporters filled San Pedro Square for Mexico’s group stage matches.
The Mexico-Ecuador winner will face either England or DR Congo in the Round of 16 on July 5.
