BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Fight for Our Health coalition, representatives of Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, and others held a rally outside of Representative David Valadao’s Bakersfield office Tuesday morning. Rep. Valadao responded in a statement to the rally.

According to a release, the rally is to “hold Rep. Valadao accountable” as it will be one year since the vote on President Trump’s One, Big, Beautiful Bill.

Socorro Santillan, Director of Public Affairs, Planned Parenthood Advocates Mar Monte said, “We have not forgotten that on Saturday, July 4th, is the one-year anniversary of H.R. 1, which basically cut down billions of dollars in Medicaid for our communities and that they defunded Planned Parenthood across the nation.”

Congressman Valadao provided a statement to Eyewitness News saying:

H.R. 1 boosts take-home pay and stops the largest tax increase on working families in American history, It also preserves Medicaid for our most vulnerable by establishing community engagement requirements for able-bodied adults without dependents and simply asks participants to work, volunteer, or attend school for 20 hours per week. My top priorities have always been protecting access to affordable healthcare and helping Central Valley families keep more of their hard-earned money, and it’s concerning paid activists are working so hard to scare people with half-truths and distortions.
