Oak Park Schools to Interview Five Finalists for Superintendent Position

Oak Park, MI – The Oak Park School Board met on June 29 to review applicants for the superintendent position. The Board felt the candidate pool was excellent with 43 applicants and determined to interview five candidates for the position. The Board is assisted in the search process by MASB, Michigan Association of School Boards.
The interviews will be beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday July 16 and at 6:00 p.m. on Monday July 20 at the Board Room. The public is encouraged to attend the interviews. An open house and a second round of interviews is planned for Monday July 27. Candidates and the times they will be interviewed are as follows:
Thursday, July 16
6:00 p.m., Marcus Davenport, Ph.D., former Superintendent at Grand Ledge and Beecher Schools. He is currently adjunct professor for Baker College, Purdue Global, Walden, and Grand Canyon University. Previously, he was a principal in Detroit and teacher in Southfield.
7:00 p.m., Mit Foley, Ed.D., Assistant Superintendent for Saginaw Public Schools since 2018. Previously, he was a principal, an assistant principal, and athletic director for Saginaw. He also was a classroom teacher in Saginaw.
8:00 p.m., Kimberley Leverette, Ed.D., Superintendent for Pontiac Schools since 2024. Previously, she was assistant superintendent in Pontiac. She also was Executive Director of Education of Talent at the Flint and Genesee Chamber of Commerce. She has been a principal, assistant principal and teacher for various schools.
Monday, July 20
6:00 p.m., David Reese, M.A., High School Principal for Southfield Schools since 2022. Previously, he was HS Principal for Farmington for five years. He has been an Adult ESL Director, assistant principal, athletic director, and head football coach.
7:00 p.m., Pamela Farris, Ed.S., Regional Vice-President/Superintendent for Accel Schools since 2018. Previously, she was the chief academic officer for Cornerstone Schools. She was principal in Pontiac from 2003–12.
The Board expects to appoint a new superintendent to begin in August 2026.
