Cal State Bakersfield has announced that it will be joining the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation for the third time in program history. The Big West discontinued the sponsorship of both Men’s and Women’s Swim and Dive,
CSUB is one of six teams joining the MPSF for the upcoming seasons. Other schools include Seattle U, UC San Diego, University of San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, and the University of Denver.
“The MPSF provides a highly competitive platform for our student-athletes and creates an opportunity for them to challenge themselves at a high level while continuing to raise the standard within our program. We are excited for the opportunities this partnership will create for our team, our university, and the future of CSUB Swimming & Diving,” said Swimming and Diving Director Shane Pelton.
The MPSF is a familiar conference to the `Runners as they were in the conference from 2022-24, along with having a pair of years from 2011-2013.
CSUB men’s swim and dive team won the first-ever MPSF Championship in 2011. They won first place with a team score of 447. The second-place school was Seattle University with 304.
“The shift back to the MPFS was an easy decision that will allow our student-athletes to continue to shine in the pool. We look forward to seeing them compete for conference titles in the years to come” said Dr. Sarah Tuohy.
