Spies Among Us will hold Independence Day experiences for fans of the game
One of Los Angeles’ thrilling activities that allows players to explore Little Tokyo with a touch of mystery and suspense will hold special Independence Day spy missions for July 4 starting at 5 p.m.
Spies Among Us, a 90-minute immersive experience, is a text-driven game with live actors and puzzles where players seek to uncover the undercover spy walking among the public. Available to play solo or up to six players, this activity has been a fan favorite in DTLA since its launch by director Prescott Gadd.

The game encourages incoming agents to use the promo code “AnnaStrong” this weekend to receive 17.76% off their order and honor the woman who famously used different colored petticoats on her laundry line to signal news to American spies during the Revolutionary War.
Since 2024, the game has wowed audiences with its escape-room-like features but allowing players to wander around the city. Earlier in May, the game won the audience award at the Los Angeles Immersive Invitational.
“I wanted something pedestrian-friendly and safe — a place people would be willing to go to,” Gadd said in an interview with the LA Times. “Little Tokyo was by far the No. 1 spot when I thought about places I liked to walk around… It’s reminiscent of New York or Chicago.”
Gadd took inspiration from the Hitman video game and wanted to create a short immersive theater experience for tourists and locals alike. Spies Among Us allows players to become the protagonist of the game and venture out of their comfort zone to find the spy.

Spotting the spy for the first time is what Gadd thinks fans will find most interesting about the experience. “You have to approach this stranger and there’s still that tiny chance you’re wrong [about the spy]. It’s very exhilarating and it’s been so fun watching people go through that process,” the game director said.
