BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A month-long multi-agency investigation led to the arrest of a 27-year-old man and the seizure of suspected heroin, meth, fentanyl, a gun, and cash during searches of three Bakersfield properties.
The Bakersfield Police Department said on Monday, June 29th, 2026, California Highway Patrol officers, Drug Enforcement Administration agents, and BPD narcotics detectives assigned to a DEA task force conducted a month-long investigation into a mid-level narcotics trafficker suspected of supplying street-level dealers throughout Bakersfield and surrounding areas.
Police said during the investigation, CHP officers, BPD narcotics detectives, and DEA special agents saw 27-year-old Jesus Marquez-Ruiz allegedly engaging in multiple suspected narcotics transactions at various locations throughout Bakersfield.
Based on this activity, search warrants were obtained for three properties: 219 Whitlock Street, 225 Whitlock Street, and 410 Boomerang Drive.
The homes on Whitlock Street are in east Bakersfield. The residence of Boomerang Drive is in southeast Bakersfield.
With the assistance of BPD SWAT and Special Enforcement Unit officers, the search warrants were successfully executed.
According to police, the operation ended in the seizure of:

Marquez-Ruiz was booked into the Kern County Jail on multiple narcotics and firearm related charges, and asset forfeiture proceedings are pending.
