Two years after opening on the Fox Point Farms property in Encinitas, Haven Farm + Table restaurant has a new chef, new menu and new culinary concept.
Haven’s new chef, New England-raised Joel Jordan, has introduced a summer menu that’s more affordable, shareable and more rooted in celebrating seasonal, locally grown produce. The new menu, which features casual dishes like a buttermilk fried chicken sandwich, blistered shishito peppers, birria chicken poutine, French braised dip, local fresh fish, safood cavatelli, and Mederannean beef noodle + falafel.
Opened in August 2024, the 120-seat Haven restaurant occupies a second-floor space overlooking the 21-acre Fox Point Farms “agrihood” that includes a farm, produce market, brewery and other small businesses. Pastry shop expands to Del Mar: Clément Le Déoré, the French pastry chef who opened Desserts by Clement in Pacific Beach in 2024, opened his second location June 26 in Del Mar Plaza. Like its sister shop, the new location serves a wide variety of fresh-made pastries, desserts, croissants and macaron cookies. Biscuit sandwich chain expanding to El Cajon: Rise Southern Biscuits and Righteous Chicken, a North Carolina-born restaurant chain that opened its first self-service location in 2024 near San Diego State University, wille expand to El Cajon this fall. The unique concept allows customers to order a variety of biscuit sandwich and other items online, that are prepped to order, boxed up and available for pickup onsite in heated lockers. The menu includes breakfast and chicken biscuit sandwiches, side dishes like fried okra, grits and gravy, dessert biscuits and beignets, coffees and teas. Moniker General expanding downtown: Moniker Group has announced plans to expand its Moniker General brand — which includes all-day coffee, cocktails and retail operations — to downtown San Diego later this year. It joins sister locations in Arts District Liberty Station and North Park. The downtown location will occupy 1,830 square feet on the ground floor of WEST, Holland Partner Group’s new 37-story mixed-office tower at 1101 Union St., San Diego.

SunLife shop opens at Hotel Del: SunLife Organics, a 15-year-old Malibu-born healthy food and drink bar, has opened a beachfront shop at the Hotel Del Coronado.
