LOS ANGELES — As voters in California continue to vote in the state’s special election on Proposition 50, California Secretary of State Shirley Weber assured voters that the state’s election process is safe and secure despite President Donald Trump’s allegations of voter fraud.

Weber told “Rush Hour” host Giselle Fernandez about the state’s efforts to ensure voting security.

“Simply because someone says there’s fraud and deception — the president and his folks have been saying that for the past six years and beyond since 2016. [They say,] ‘There’s fraud. There’s deception… We’ve asked where’s the fraud?”

“We’ve worked very hard to make sure that people get the right information, the correct information,” she added. “We defended Californians’ right to vote, all Californians, and we continue to do that.”

Weber said that they’ve made it easier for people to vote.

“We have voting boxes across the state for people to put their ballots in,” she said. “We have a vote by mail, so they are not intimidated if they don’t want to go into places. We have a Voting Bill of Rights in California that protects every person’s right to vote.”

Weber stated that the state was fine with the president’s plan to send election monitors to California.

“We have monitors and observers at every election. This is nothing new,” she said, adding that anyone can be an election observer.

Weber added they are working with Trump’s observers.

“They are not here to change anything,” she said. “They are here to hopefully, to learn about the wonderful election that occurs in California.”
