A 48-year-old Woodlake man was struck and killed while crossing Highway 41 in Fresno on Wednesday evening.

The Fresno County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Albert Gomez.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded around 5 p.m. to northbound Highway 41 near Tulare Street, where they found Gomez lying in the roadway.

Investigators said Gomez was walking eastbound across the northbound lanes of Highway 41 when he entered the path of a northbound Dodge truck traveling in the middle lane. The driver was unable to avoid hitting him.

Gomez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
